Patient Engagement HIT Covers Vanguard Research
Sara Heath of Patient Engagement HIT covers Vanguard’s latest research that finds correlations between areas where high patient satisfaction scores are common and COVID-19 death rates are low.
The data, which looked at recent COVID-19 death rates reported by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and a mixture of Yelp and Google reviews of doctors—what Vanguard calls the Happy Patient Index—found that places with lower death rates yielded better patient reviews.
All said, if every city had a four-star satisfaction score and the mathematical correlation held, the U.S. could have seen from 53,108 and 73,283 fewer COVID-19 deaths through October 25, 2020.
